Bring in that Change NOW

We all want to be successful. We all want to be billionaires. We all want to have happy relationships and be successful human beings who have everything. We hear the ‘making it rich’ stories but do we hear the sacrifices that were made – the extreme discipline, the hard work, sufferings and daily mundane grind. Can we replicate their passion, purpose, commitment and persistent ability to face hardships and resilience to overcome setbacks and jump back into the game?

In almost all my coaching conversations, I hear the passion to be successful, to achieve goals and many have realistic aspirations. However when it comes to actually doing it, we fail …and yet another year goes by. Our good intentions just remain there – INTENTIONS!  Yes, we all have the ability to achieve our dreams and live that design life. However, if year after year, your goals remain static, it is time to pause, introspect and reflect. What is stopping you from achieving those goals? Why are your relationships less than ideal?  We are often programmed in some way to believe that the universe will drop that success into our lap. We always look for short-cuts to becoming rich and successful. A common behaviour that we come across is when we hear stories of someone making mega bucks on stock-markets – so what is our immediate response -We look for some recommendations from our friends and jump-start our journey into investment ( i am equally guilty here)! Did we do our own home-work, did we at least try and do our own basic due-diligence – No, that would mean pouring hours into mundane work of reading reports, looking into the balance sheet – too much work! (I would rather Netflix :)) So, we just invest blindly and hope to gather our fruits. Maybe sometimes it works but it is as probable as winning a lottery. It is certainly a sure way of getting into a risky investment.

Am I saying that one cannot become successful – No, certainly Not!  You can be successful, you can be whoever you want to be but first you need to identify your values and beliefs to have that change in your mindset that will align your aspirations to your purpose and identity.

One way to do that is to do your own research, gather all that knowledge through reading and experiences but that will  take-away many of those productive years (we often hear the phrase ‘oh, I wish I knew this a decade ago!’).  A shorter way to jump-start the process  is to work on oneself with a coach, a mentor who can guide you to bring that lasting change in  behaviour and  to put you on that journey of self-discovery to lead a more fulfilling life.
